Man acknowledges killing of woman (58) at Evanger – VG

EVANGER / OSLO (AP) The defense attorney for the man who has confessed to the murder of a woman (58) at Evanger says that man describes what he has done as terrible.

Just after the clock 16 Thursday police got a message from a neighbor that a woman was found dead inside a house in Evanger center in Voss municipality in Hordaland.

An hour later a man in his 40s arrested outdoors, not far from the place. On Wednesday evening, the man was questioned and charged with murder.

– The accused acknowledges killing. He expresses what he has done as terrible, says his defender Rolf Knudsen told NRK.

The man has consented to detention, and will be questioned on Friday.

– He cooperates well with the police. Beyond that I can not comment on the matter further with regard to the ongoing investigation, said Knudsen.



“She’s killed”

To Bergens Tidende says Voss sheriff department that they are confident that the woman was killed, but that they can not yet say anything about the possible murder weapon. It is not known what kind of relationship the accused man and the murdered woman had.

VG has spoken with one of the neighbors of the deceased woman. Together with two other residents of the village, they found the victim.

– We sensed that something was wrong, and locked us into the residence. I stood outside, while the other two went inside. It was not long before they came out and shouted “she is killed, call the police.” It all is disturbing. I can not be shocked, I just think this is terrible, says neighbor told VG.

– Shock for whole village

the police turned out with great resources from including Bergen and Voss and was on site after about 20 minutes.

VG was Thursday present at the house where the woman was found dead. Gunnar Ingvaldsen Folkedal, who lives in Evanger, told VG that he is shaken.

– I can not believe such a thing could happen here. It is a shock for the whole village. It’s a small place with reportedly good cohesion, says Folkedal.

The parish priest Ivar Molde is in the village to provide help.

– I am a member of the local resource group and Voss, and have come to assist those who need it. There is also a psychologist on the way, he says to VG.

The relatives are notified, newspaper Bergens Tidende.
