Hareide in Pride Parade: – Concerns us all together – Romsdals Budstikke

– When a minority experiencing hate crime, violence and intimidation, as concerns us all, said Hareide said.

Democratic Party leader has received a lot of criticism of their own party colleagues to participate in the parade, and more KrF-ers should have resigned from the party as a result.

– There have been mixed reactions. I admit. But those who have understood my reason for being here, feel that I get a really support, said Hareide, who does not hide the fact that a part of the expressions in the parade are foreign to him.

– I think it’s great to be here, and I’ve gotten a warm reception. It is generous of the gay movement to welcome me so warmly. I appreciate that very much appreciate, said Hareide.

Characterized by Orlando

– We have no exact figures, but it must have been over 30,000 participants in the parade and over 160,000 spectators, said his Heen Sikkeland, Chairman of Free and press contact in Oslo Pride.

There were a total of 104 parade touches and thus the record from 2014, when Oslo hosted the Europride, beaten. Many signed up as a result of the tragic event in Orlando, where 49 people were killed and over 50 others wounded in an attack on the gay club Pulse on June 12.

Hareide is among those who decided to participate the parade because of the incident in Orlando.

– I was in Orlando with my family in my paternity leave in April-May, and we felt safe and free. A few weeks after we come home, people are killed, just because they are lesbians and gays. I did not think it was necessary in 2016, but it is, to stand up for the equal dignity and stand up against gays and lesbians to experience hate crimes, violence and discrimination, said Hareide.

His Heen Sikkeland am glad that Hareide was among the people who helped to set a new record.

– the time is ripe, and it is good that Hareide takes responsibility. We are now up in higher numbers than on May 17, so there is talk of a real festival, said Sikkeland.

Death threats

Hareide went with his wife Lisa and the Muslim, lesbians society debater Amal Aden behind the banner of the Family Network. Aden received before the parade of death threats, but nevertheless chose to go after having consulted with the police.

– I thought if Knut Arild would go, would I and. It is a matter of principle, she said smiling.

Hareide was quick to comment that the price he pays to go in the parade is small compared to what Aden and others experience.

Janne Stømner, police chief of the Oslo police, said before the parade that they had good contingency, but that they had not taken any extra precautions after the incident in Orlando.

Picking church leader

another who has received criticism for their participation in the parade is the newly elected leader of the Church Council, Kristin Gunleiksrud Raaum. She belongs Front national church and has spent many years working for gays to get married in church.

Further ahead of her in the parade, a group of women as lyrics for The Dixie Cups’ “Chapel of Love” which clearly touched church leader.

– It reflects an expectation that now can also LGBT-ers love each other forever fidelity and everlasting love in the church. And it is wonderful to experience the anticipation and joy, said Gunleiksrud Raaum.

She has also received supportive reactions and stressed that it felt very right to participate in the parade and show diversity.
