Police warn parents, “beefing” has flared up – NRK

The phenomenon has arisen among some boys between 13 and 16 years.

Police said that they have previously seen in the Russian environment: that boys fighting while others stand around and cheer and movies and do not intervene, now has spread to younger groups.

– There are punches, kicks, lacerations, broken teeth. This is not play fighting. There is extreme violence. One had to operate the nose, says Anne Merete petition, police superintendent at Youth section at Majorstuen police station.

Police fear that serious head injuries to happen at least after punch or kick.

– ordinary boys without other problems

In the past also fights happened frequently. This week there have been several fights and more are notified.

The phenomenon of “beefing” is reminiscent of the movie, the novel and the concept of “Fight Club”, a secret association of young men who gather to fight.

– Earlier we saw that some do not have much reason to fight, one finds a reason. But now need no reason to initiate. There are no conflicts in the forefront of fights, says Anne Merete petition.

– Can we be friends?

– Yes , almost friends. Or in the same circuit. And if you first feel that you have said yes, it is difficult to withdraw. The expectation is great. It is “not allowed” to withdraw.

– The next few days will many 10.klassinger also mounting for the first time. This is perfectly normal boys who have other problems. But they have begun to flirt with a tough culture, and when we get a lot to be worried, says Anne Merete petition.

– With us there 3- 4 boys who have felt threatened and counselor or contact teachers have talked to them and their families. These are horrible things that young people are exposed to, and it is important that parents are aware of it, says Evelyn Angell Veglo, principal of Hovseter school.

Police Majorstua sent the letter to parents on westside schools as Ruseløkka, Uranienborg, Majorstua and west towards Bærum.

– this division creates tremendous fear, when the boys see this violence, says Anne Merete petition, the police.

She recommends that parents examine whether their boys are under pressure.

– Parents should talk to kids about what worries them and how it is possible to withdraw from a situation. You may want to work with other parents, and one can also call us to the police for advice.
