The municipality established crisis management in the municipality immediately after they received notice of the fire Tuesday afternoon.

– We established crisis management to get an overview of the situation, and to follow up on those affected. Crisis management has ceased now, but the alderman included with the situation further, telling Melhus mayor Jorid Jagtøyen (Sp) to NRK.

– If the situation changes, additional municipal switched back on, she explains.

The police and fire department keeps guard at BILOPPHUGGERI both Tuesday evening and into the night to prevent unauthorized taking into fire area.

The fire department has control of the fire, but engaged by fighters.

– It could have been relevant evacuation of residents near BILOPPHUGGERI, but we have been told by the fire department that this probably will not happen, tells Jagtøyen.

Two men got very severe burns and their condition is critical, after the fire. A third man suffered serious burns, but his condition is stable.

Melhus municipality has worked to get an overview of the injury situation, and in which municipalities the injured lived. Relatives in Melhus is notified, and other communities where families live have been notified.

Total employees

The municipality collected Tuesday the employees BILOPPHUGGERI who were not injured in the fire.

– We gathered them in a bus on Øysand. Several had come back to the place, having been off work earlier in the day, telling Jagtøyen.

The municipality has dialogue with the owner of Trondheim Car Disassembly of cooperation on monitoring of employees’ mental health health.

– There comes a tomorrow even employees, says the mayor.

There was a fire in the area at the same scrap yard in September 2009. Also, when there was an explosion.

Jagtøyen has so far not heard what might have been the cause of today’s fire.

– This causes the investigation to find answers to, concludes Mayor.
