Labour were strong opponents of the scheme when the case was dealt with last time, in 2002, but the party has now reversed, NRK reported.
– The advantage of such a system is that individuals themselves can find both residence and employer. It saves bureaucracy too much work, and they can use resources on those who need more help, saying the party’s immigration policy spokesman Eirik Sivertsen.
The scheme is being practiced in Sweden and means that the refugees do not have to wait for a reception center for a municipality agrees to take care of them, as in the Norwegian system. Thus often seek refugees to the municipalities and districts where they already have friends, acquaintances and families.
Here at home supported the scheme also of SV and government cooperation parties Left and KrF.
But the scheme has been controversial in Sweden since their resettlement of refugees has led to ghetto-like conditions and neighborhoods where nine out of ten are immigrants.
– Experiences from Sweden has not only been positive, so it is important to take into account what has gone wrong there when we shall consider the same in Norway, says André Skjelstad, immigration policy spokesman of the Liberal Party.
