Stolen marmosets back in the Reptile. – The mood is ecstatic – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): The two monkeys Harald and Nano were on Wednesday stolen from Oslo Reptile. The park was very worried about the animals and feared they could be dead earlier this afternoon. Wednesday night, however, came the good news that the monkeys were back, safe and sound.

– The monkeys are back. The atmosphere is eksastisk, says animal responsible in Oslo Reptile, Camilla Bjerke, told Dagbladet.

She says that they were delivered anonymously late yesterday.

– The whole thing was quite absurd. We closed really 18.00, but had a meeting in the premises which lasted until around 22:00. We stood in the parking lot, talking, and was actually on his way home. Suddenly a man in a taxi with two cardboard boxes with monkeys, she said.

– The monkeys were a bit disheveled coat and a little skeptical, but it went well with them, she says.

Harald and Nano were then taken back to their cages, where it awaited food.

– They were very hungry, but it was fortunately much food in there. We are very glad to have them back, she says.

– They are characterized and nervous, but got very warm welcome back in the pack. We still know very little about what has happened and who is behind, but the important thing right now is that the animals are safely back, she says.

Two monkeys stolen

The park has four dwarf marmosets and two of kind of white ear marmoset, and thieves have brought one of each. A window was smashed to get into the building and several windows of the cages is also shattered.

– There is no particular value in monkeys, perhaps 5,000 to 8,000 apiece, and the thieves did not take cash, computers or any of reptiles, only monkeys, said CEO Are Hogner Dagbladet while the park still looked for monkeys.

The monkeys are social animals and need to be with others in order to thrive, so the park was particularly concerned Wednesday afternoon.

– These monkeys can not tolerate much and is very likely to die of stress. There is very little monkeys we are talking about and when they are alone with their flock, in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people, it is not good for them, said Bjerke.
