– Decision to cancel the trip was taken for information and advice from the police. It was a threat against the event, says communication Ingvild Bakke of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) to Aftenposten.

DNT were with Liberal politician Abid Raja initiators for the trip, which was planned by Eiksetra in Finnemarka outside Drammen night to Friday next week.

Abid Raja, who was supposed to be along for the ride, would not comment on the cancellation, but says he does not even have received threats, the newspaper said.

DNT will not say anything about the details of the threats, but stated that it was the police who made contact with them.

– This is very sad for the students. We are of course very sorry that the event is canceled. DNT wanted to give them an introduction to outdoor life, says Bakke.

One of the objectives of DNT is getting more immigrants into the wild. Bjerke consists of 40 percent immigrants and overall there are 240 different nationalities in the district according to a report from Statistics Norway. (NTB)
