Marius Lill Gjære, leader of AUF North Trondelag, Tor Martin Nordtømme, Jannik Johansson, Håkon Einarsve and Ingunn Rotmo Langaas is on Utøya for the first summer camp on the island after the attack on 22 July 2011. On Thursday evening they met one of the really great heroes of the party, the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg.
– It’s pretty special to talk to him, I must admit, says Lille Gjære to Trønder-Avisa.
– take power
Jens Stoltenberg visited Utøya with Randi Næss from Lierne, which is Stoltenberg’s political advisor.
– They stopped and chatted with us for long. He took really time for us and was genuinely interested in the progress of AUF and Labor in Trøndelag, tell Lille Gjære.
Among other things, the NATO commander have said that it was time to get power in Stjørdal .
– We have to almost just listen when he says it, laughing Lille Gjære, who admits Stoltenberg got up even more of campaigning spirit among youth delegation.
– One can get a little starstruck when talking with the likes of him, but it quickly passed. He walked around like everyone else, as part of all here on Utøya.
Friendship, love, learning and politics
Lille Gjære has just been involved in the opening of the summer camp. With the exception of an unusually large press corps, he describes the atmosphere as it should be at summer camp.
– Obviously were preamble bit special, in terms of what has happened here. Still, after it was both the atmosphere and the speech of leader Mani Hussaini as usual – full of friendship, love, learning and politics.
