Earlier this month it went off accidentally shot from a police weapon, both in Vestoppland and Haugaland and Sunnhordaland police
Just after 15 o’clock arrived message about a new vådeskutt police. Vestoppland Police had last week an accidental firing, a so-called accidental shot. The incident occurred on Monday 10 August at 13 o’clock, in the Gurgaon police station, and was not associated with active service among the public. It writes Vestoppland police said in a statement.
The case has been submitted to the Bureau for investigation. Service person who was involved has not been withdrawn weapons approval, based on an overall assessment.
Two men present
Police in Vestoppland police, Johan Martin Welhaven, told VG that accidental shot went off on part of Gjovik precinct that is not available to the public .
– There were two male police officers to the site in the room when the shot went off. We do not want to go into detail about how the shot went off, said the incident is under investigation by the Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs. No one was injured, said Welhaven VG.
At the police district chose to go out with information about accidental shot a Friday afternoon, and in addition, almost simultaneously that another police arrived with similar information, is only partially random.
– The event is basically an internal matter where we notified the Bureau and the Police Directorate. Internally there is a personnel matter and we have taken measures in own district including with regard to learning and prevention of such incidents. When we find that an increasing focus in public debate about including accidental shot in the police, we have concluded that it is appropriate to disclose the incident with us. I have also had dialogue with the chief in Haugaland and Sunnhordland, and we agreed that we should disclose that fact, says Welhaven.
The event will be the first of its kind in Vestoppland police after temporary armament was introduced last November.

Shots on våpenrom
Shortly after the first press release was announced another accidental shot. Friday 7 August 2015 ca. kl. 13.30 was fired accidentally shot inside the weapon room at one of the service locations in Haugaland and Sunnhordland police.
In a statement police said that there was injury resulting from the incident. Bureau and POD is notified of both events and sakenne investigated by the Bureau.
The two new accidental discharge joins the ranks of several accidental discharge which has become known recently.
Two of them came after temporary armament was introduced last year. In addition, considering the Bureau whether they should investigate a third accidental shot fired at Lillestrom police in June.
A policeman accompanying Tana Police Station has also been fined by an accidental shot in the sheriff’s office garage in September last year. This same applies policeman in Kristiansund, which shall be drawn in front of a mirror inside the police station in town.
NRK also writes that last spring went by an accidental shot. Both this accidental discharge and accidental shot in Tana went by before temporary armament were introduced.

To change weapons instruction
The unveiling of these events have made that Justice Minister Anders Anundsen (FRP) will change today’s weapons instruction.
– We’re going to change the current weapons instruction, so we as ministry get reporting on accidental discharge. From before we get other events, and I see no reason why accidental discharge should not be part of it. It is not always an advantage to have an armed police. It can create challenges, but we have a very professional police, and I have every confidence that they handle it in the best possible way, stated Anundsen at a press conference Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile enlightened Anundsen that the temporary Armament police extended for the sixth time.
