Pegida spokesman takes leave from teaching job – Aftenposten

Hermansen released the news on its Facebook page Thursday and it was relayed by online newspaper late Thursday night. It was school that earlier that day gave him an offer of extended leave, justified by security problems.

Hermansen said earlier this week that he fears unpleasantness when he left to teach at kuben upper secondary school at Bjerke in Oslo.

The news of leave from work came just one day after the school administration confirmed that Hermansen is now back after sick leave and vacation.

The profiled Islam critic has on several occasions called Islam a totalitarian ideology. He has since last fall been on sick leave from his job as a teacher in secondary school cube and Etterstad and has previously said that it was dangerous for him to teach because students threatened him when they discovered his attitudes.

– I hoping to avoid it, but fearing similar and worse things that I experienced recently, says Hermansen. He says he will stick rigidly to the curriculum, but will continue with its “political activity.”

– I have my constitutional right to use my freedom of expression. At the same time I learn and need to act professionally as a teacher. But those things must be allowed to combine, says pegida spokesman.

Hermansen received a formal warning, called a service prosecution, from the Education for having acted in provocative and offensive to Muslim students. He appealed prosecution, and the appeal is still being considered. (© NTB)
