12 indicted for asylum uprising – Dagbladet.no

Large police forces who managed to a riot at a reception center in Lunner Oppland and arrested 12 residents Thursday. Yet another example of the separate reception for young asylum seekers not work, says the LIM.

There are reports of significant damage after about 20 residents at the asylum reception barricaded himself in a gymnasium and threw stones at police. A policeman who was hit, had to get medical treatment for an injury to his hand, said operations manager Pål Erik Teigen in Vestoppland police.

– Police action strength was inside and cleaned up and got regaining control. We are trying to find out who these people are and which of them was most active, says Teigen said.

Police in Vestoppland got reinforcements from Oslo, Romerike and Northern Buskerud Police District before a force of around 20 police officers come out to the reception.

Relocate

The arrestees were all residents at the reception for minors in Lunner municipality.

The very heated situation arose when one of the residents who were moved, opposed this . The person should be moved, got sympathy and support from the other residents, which led to the situation escalated quickly.

– We believe that the man who was to be moved, is over 18 years. The person will be taken over by the Police Immigration in Oslo on Friday, said police lawyer Johan Petter Bærland in Vestoppland police.

He said that the eleven others indicted, are minors and will be placed on second reception. In total, about 20 people detained, including the 12 who were also indicted.

– Poor solution

General Sylo Taraku in Equality, integration, diversity (LIM) believe that asylum seekers who claim to be unaccompanied minor asylum seekers should be placed in ordinary reception centers, along with the adults.

– If the idea of gathering young asylum seekers in special reception is to create safer conditions for them, as experience shows that the opposite is true. Often the most commotion and noise just in reception centers for unaccompanied minors who are extra staffed, says Taraku.

He believes young asylum seekers have benefited from having adults around them, and then not only adults which is state employee.

– Experience has shown the presence of families with children a stabilizing and positive effect on the social environment at the reception, says Taraku.

Vandalism on police cars

It was made vandalism on buildings and police cars when it stood at its worst. It is therefore reasonable to assume that the damage is huge, according to operations manager Teigen.

– There is a great deal of broken windows, both the houses and our cars, he said.

It was not arrived messages about other injuries, but an ambulance was a while on site in case there would be a need for health care.

The original eight officers who stepped out from Vestoppland police, unable to get control of the situation. It got the police only when significant reinforcements were inserted and the current occupant was removed from the site.

The reception at Lundby opened in October 2013 and is for minors.
