The helicopter that crashed at Turøy was a Super Puma EC225, while it went down off the coast of scotland was an older model Super Puma AS332.
It has not succeeded BT to answer new questions to Meredith.
– Rewriting of truth
Per Gram, a former helicopter pilot with 20,000 flying hours behind him, reacts in statements to Airbus and says that the two helicopter types are almost identical.
– Airbus boss says this has never happened on a EC225, there is a legal rewrite of truth. A virtually identical gearbox wrecked in the accident in 2009 in which the entire rotor system loosened and disappeared like now, says Gram VG.
According to the investigation report that came out after the crash, extending the trip from Miller platform to Aberdeen normal, until an alarm alerted decreasing oil pressure in the main rotor gearbox, type BT.
Cracks in the gearbox
Shortly after it shall have appeared a creaking sound, indicating that the transmission was about to disintegrate. Within two seconds stopped helicopter to obey levers. 18 seconds later loosened the main rotor and the helicopter crashed against the sea. 16 people lost their lives in the accident.
The investigation in the aftermath of the crash concluded that the accident was caused by cracks in the gearbox caused by fatigue fracture.
Requires the Super Puma is put on the ground for good
In 2012 all helicopters Super Puma sat on the ground, after it was discovered a faulty gearbox.
Now requires over 9,000 people who have signed a petition on the website change.org, that all Super Puma Airbus 225, also called EC 225 or H225, to be retired for good, NRK reported.
the petition is addressed to the British Civil Aviation Authority, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and have the time of writing received 9,825 signatures.
– I lost my son in the accident in 2009. Seven years have passed and my life has stood still. I under not my worst enemy this heartache. All varieties of Puma should be removed from the oil industry, so that people can feel safe when they travel to work – rather than fear that they’ll never see their loved ones again, writes one of those who support the petition.
helicopter type has been under scrutiny for the CAA as a result of several types of problems. CAA has now introduced the flight ban for Super Puma, as have British aviation authorities made, and Airbus has suspended commercial flights by helicopter type, which was previously called EC225.
