Hotels strike is over – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Friday notified Federation that the strike, which so far had covered 7,200 hotel and restaurant workers, should be further stepped up, but on Friday night the parties agreed.

Unions and the Norwegian Hospitality Association after a proposal from the Office of mediator in night agreed a new deal which includes full repayment of the demand for real local bargaining, writing Federation on its website.

– After four weeks strike is incredibly gratifying that arbedsgiverne has agreed to meet the requirement of full bargaining rights, says union leader Jorn Howard.

– We have during the strike seen statements from hoteliers that this requirement should they never say yes. But we got it fulfilled yet, and this is a great victory, he continued.

Unions also celebrates “a good financial result” that involves low pay increases to all two million.

– It was expensive

NHO tourism say they have now succeeded in reaching an agreement both parties can live with.

– It was expensive, and we have gone to great lengths on several points. Not least, we have accepted joint union’s demands for local negotiations, but everyone must give and take in order to reach an agreement, says chief negotiator Jostein Hansen in the Norwegian Hospitality Association in a press release.

The agreement shall pass to the referendum of the members of Fellesforbundet and the Norwegian Hospitality Association.

– we must await the outcome of the referendum, but we are relieved to have a proposed solution on the table. Now the summer tour, the most important time of year for tourism, and it is time to think ahead, says Norwegian Hospitality Director Kristin Krohn Devold in the press release.

– Bearing noise and nausea

The strike, which has lasted since April 24, has not gone unnoticed. Wednesday this week it became known that the United Federation has driven illegal boycott, which was established in Oslo City Court.

In its ruling also states that Federation and Skjelstad Aune must pay 21,000 kroner in legal costs to Scandic Hotels AB, according to NTB Thursday.

– the driver with illegal boycott, and it is time that they take responsibility. When they do not, we absolutely have to resort to other means, so we went to court with the case, said Josein Hansen, director of employment policy at the Norwegian Hospitality Dagbladet.

Boycott video shown in right

When a driver came with goods to Scandic Edderkoppen in Oslo, he was physically prevented by striking hotel workers. A lead in the hotel filmed session, and the film was later submitted as evidence.

The video shows the moment where there is a verbal confrontation with strike leader of Fellesforbundet Tore Skjelstad Aune.

– The video is taken out of context. We are in a legal conflict and then this is something that can happen, said Skjelstad Aune Dagbladet Friday.

A number of incidents have been documented by video. May 7 wrote Dagbladet about an episode where pickets refused a guest entry at Radisson Blu Scandinavia in Oslo.

– At this preliminary order is directed at me is natural as long as it’s me who is on the video, says Skjelstad Aune.

The matter is updated.
