Swing towards cheaper E18 – Dagsavisen

The renegotiation of Oslo Package 3 continues on overtime.

Yesterday negotiators at the meeting with Minister of Transport Ketil Solvik-Olsen (FRP), and gave the minister a briefing. It was “not given any dictation” stressed the minister.

– All players have said that we will have a solution that is as good and as cheap as possible. That means as long as we solve the queues and get efficient transportation, I am open to that NPRA can find other solutions for E18 than what we have today, said Solvik-Olsen during a press summary of the Ministry’s reception after the meeting.

– Have est out

It gives Oslo’s transport councilor Lan Marie Nguyen Berg (MDGs) a bright green hope. She perceives that Solvik-Olsen allows for a scaling down of the E18 project.

– Yes. That was what he said. He allows for the Road Administration can find other cheaper solutions, and a downscaling of a project that has est, says Nguyen Berg Dagsavisen coming out of the Ministry.

Will cut queue

councils Interpretation provides Solvik-Olsen needs to clarify that statement his.

– There is no question of scaling down the E18 from the current standard, but we are open to discuss better solutions that are cheaper than those located there now. But when the goal is to get rid of queues, so we will not end up with a E18 having the same queues today, says Solvik-Olsen Dagsavisen.

He stressed that the E18 project is about collective commitment, bicycle and car environment locally, in addition to the road.

– Even without the growth in passenger traffic so we can expect growth in bus traffic, commercial passenger transport and freight transport. With existing queues then you have to make moves to get the queues away even if all further passenger growth happens collectively, says Solvik-Olsen Dagsavisen.

Demanding

The negotiations so far have been tough, and after that Dagsavisen understand neither was particularly moving between negotiating parties when they sat down later in the day yesterday.

Akershus are hard on the requirement of the new E18 westwards, while the coalition the majority in Oslo says no to the project, as presented today. Commissioner Declaration is clear that they are opposed to an increase of the physical road capacity in and to Oslo. The MDG and SV, who sit in the Oslo City Council, went to the election that the current E18-plans should be abandoned.

New meetings next week

Before Pentecost let the coalition from Oslo forward a compromise proposal which the proposed inter alia to develop the tunnel at Slependen-Sandvika, but not projects further towards Oslo. According to NRK, it represents an abandonment of leg 1, ie stretch Lysaker Ramstadsletta. But this suggestion did not go down well with Akershus Right.

– It appears a bit like a Gordian knot of this?

– There is no doubt that when parties have been campaigning on that there will be built a meter more road there is a demanding position. It’s going to be built quite a few more meters way, says Transport Minister.

He stressed yesterday once again that it is not appropriate to negotiate new E18 from Oslo Package 3.

– If we can not agree then it is today Oslo Package 3 concerning, he told reporters after he had been informed.

The negotiating parties meet again Sunday and it is also scheduled to meet next week.
