Do not believe in Baksaas – Dagsavisen

– Baksaas and Aaser have said they did not know anything about this before in 2014. There are several things that indicate that they have shown some long before, says Liberal representative in the Control Committee Abid Raja Dagsavisen.

He notes that the whistleblower oriented former CEO of VimpelCom, Mr. Lunder, three directors there from Telenor, as well as two group management on corruption forged mind.

Also Progress representative on the committee, Helge Thorheim, find Baksaas explanation implausible.

– That they have not talked among themselves these gentlemen, also considering Lunder has been a part of this system, it I find quite unnatural, says Thorheim Dagsavisen.

Not Telenor corruption

– You want us to believe that not until 2014 realized some things that this notification had happened. Although directors of Vimpelcom had shifted warning about this. Is it to be understood?

– Yes it is so understanding, said Baksaas, who denied that he had adapted his explanation, and turned on to the Deloitte report which states that Telenor has not contributed to corruption.

– The Board of Directors of VimpelCom who are duped by others in Vimpelcom system, Baksaas said.

Baksaas and former chairman of Telenor Svein Aaser has been accused of withholding information under their previous Vimpelcom hearing. Yesterday acknowledged Baksaas that he announced all he knew for fear of harming the police investigation.

– I had brought some of this on, so I’d like to see the debate we then had, said Baksaas, who resigned as Telenor CEO in June 2015.

Alarm

The main question Control Committee will have Baksaas and Aaser to answer is why Telenor withheld information from economics minister Monica Mæland (H) on how Telenor handled corruption case in Vimpelcom. This is also the reason why Parliament has called for a new hearing in the case. Mæland reiterated yesterday that she has a hard time understanding that she has not received this information before.

– This is information I think we should have had. I’ve heard Aaser testify today, and he gave the same to me in 2015.

When Mæland received information she thought she’d had before, it resulted in that Aaser resigned as Chairman with immediate effect.

– When the board receives information I do not understand that not all alarm clocks rings, said Mæland in hearing yesterday.

Wild naming alerts

Sps Per Olav Lundteigen asked former VimpelCom top Jo Lunder naming whistleblower who came with concern about corruption to VimpelCom and Telenor. The man has even wished to remain anonymous.

 - There will be no further highlight of this committee’s honorable business if we pull out the notifications name now, commented Michael Tetzschner.

After some thinking time said attorney Schiøtz that Lunder would provide the name if it is not detrimental to the investigation. Martin Kolberg eventually concluded that the committee did not want answer the question.

– Embarrassed to be in consultation with Tetzchner

Abid Raja hung out Michael Tetzchner Twitter.

As if the temperature was high enough in VimpelCom case, was not the mood any better then Liberal Abid Raja let out a twitter message during the hearing: “Embarrassed to sit in hearing about #telenor #vimpelcom with @Hoyre its representative, Michael Tetzschner . Not alone in that feeling. “Wrote Raja.

Asked by Dagsavisen about what it is Raja reacts to, he replied that it was the sour sticks between Tetzschner and Martin Kolberg made him embarrassed.

 - It’s finished now, but I stand for what I tweeted. It was embarrassing, says Raja.

 - This shows that one should not have Twitter if you do not have impulse control, responds Tetzschner.
