HALDEN (AP) A person is found dead at ØSTERBØ north of Halden after a small plane crashed in a grove of trees.
police said VG around the clock 20 that they have searched through the area and are now confident that there was only one person on board in Cherokee plane that crashed.
What caused the crash is currently unknown, but it is evident that the plane has grazed through a grove. Several trees have been cut in half and the wreckage is scattered throughout the area. There are no whole fuselage.
Operations at East police, Terje Marstad, says to VG that the deceased is a man in his 60′s. The relatives are notified.
There was a man living in Sandnes who died in the accident, confirms operations manager Tor Helge Hallstavik by South Western Police District told VG.
not sent out distress call
Communications Avinor Joachim Westh Andersen, confirmed to VG that current aircraft took off from Sola Airport clock 16.56 on Tuesday.
A good hour later, it must therefore have hit the ground north of Halden.
Rescue Manager Ståle Jamtli by JRCC Southern Norway said they received notice of the crash on the NHS.
– We have no indication that it was sent out distress call from the plane, said Jamtli.
JRCC Southern Norway reported a crash on Twitter watch 18.36.
Calls extra resources
Marstad reviewing the situation on site as hectic. Police called in extra crews to search for any more people, but has now ended this search.
According Marstad called a passerby the AMK as the person had seen a small plane that had crashed near county Road 922.
– It is too early to say whether the person saw the plane autonomous or not, tells Marstad.
Looking for items
accident Investigation Board is Tuesday night on the way to the accident site.
Marstad says at 22 o’clock VG that they are doing a continuous search for objects of interest, and that together with AIBN going to have a scheduled work into the night.
VG wrote earlier that plane would land at Rygge airport according to the website Flight Radar 24. This disproves however Marstad.
– the plane was scheduled to land somewhere else near the crash site, he said.
the police do not want to go out to where the plane would land at this time.
