He becomes LO next leader – Dagsavisen

Although there is one year to the next LO congress where the new LO leader to be elected, considered one thing to be certain: LO next leader named Hans-Christian Gabrielsen. It confirms a number of key trade union sources to Dagsavisen.

While having Gabrielsen little to say about the speculation surrounding him.

– It’s a long time to LO Congress and too early to say anything about this, he writes in an e-mail Dagsavisen.

Launched last year

Both LO leader Kristiansen and deputy Tor Arne Solbakken can only sit for a period due to LO age limits . Thus it has long been clear that Gabrielsen, who currently is the deputy, is the only one of the current senior management can continue after 2017 Congress.

Until last year there was speculation about Trinelise Sundnes, union leader in Business administration and would like to challenge Gabrielsen for leadership in 2017. It was effectively parked by Sundnes even in a VG interview last year, when she rejected his own candidacy, but pointed Gabrielsen.

– I launched Gabrielsen as leader last year and I have in no way altered perception. I stand still, says Sundnes Dagsavisen today.

No challenger

Gabrielsen are praised for their efforts as deputy and he is considered to have a high star both within LO -forbundene, but also in the political environment.

the sources Dagsavisen have talked with think therefore there is someone who will want to challenge him.

– The only thing that can prevent Gabrielsen becomes leader, if he should find something stupid the next year. With it’s reasonably unlikely, a source told Dagsavisen.

Many predict that the hardest fray, will stand on as vice-chairman.

deputy chairpersons

About Gabrielsen become manager , two deputy positions filled.

in LO is the tradition of the biggest unions also are well represented in management. Therefore takes many it for granted that one of the assistant managers come from trade union, which is the Confederation’s Association.

Several sources indicate that the current deputy, Sissel Skoghaug, may be a candidate. She currently sits as deputy trade union. However, as more stresses, it is associated although pointing to its graduates.

One other who emphasized is Peggy Følsvik of Retail and Office, which currently is 1-secretary of the LO leadership. It points out that she has delivered well in the current role and tariff experience, so it is natural that she promoted as deputy.

Representation

Mimmi Kvisvik, union leader in Joint Organization (PHO) , believes that a new senior management must have a better representation of the college and university graduates.

– I think the time is ripe for that also we are represented in the management, says Kvisvik.

She notes that the proportion of people with higher education is increasing, and that if LO will be in step with society, this should be reflected in the top.

– There is no reason to hide the chair that there are other federation who are also interested in FO. We are currently well anchored in LO, but it is important everything all LO members recognize LO. FO should not be seen as a matter of course, she said.

Kvisvik says FO has calculated that Gabrielsen becomes the next leader. Therefore, they invited him to their national convention in June.

– We will challenge him on what LO will with the public sector and those with higher education, says Kvisvik.

– I more excited the policy we shall discuss, than people, says the head of EL and iT related, Jan Olav Andersen Dagsavisen.

Already today there are several disputes that excels and which are the subject of debate in Congress in 2017, where pensions and EEA crystallize as the biggest issues.

Diet management

another question Congress must decide, the management structure. Today the LO leaders of eight people: one manager, two deputy leaders, one first secretary and four secretaries.

Several Dagsavisen sources point out that this was a structure that was created in 2013 Congress to take account. Now, however, the time has come to slim lead, some believe.
