LATEST: E16 is now opened to traffic, police watch in 1145.
The fatal accident happened on Wednesday morning. The road was closed at 0839.
It soon became clear that there was talk about a very serious accident.
– A passenger car has run in the rock wall of the tunnel. There is major damage to the vehicle and in the tunnel, said police operations manager Morten Kronen.
Time 0908 confirmed the police that a person had died in the accident. There was no one else in the car when the accident happened.

Long queues

Detour via county Road 7
– It’s detour via county Road 7 Hardanger and highway 13 Granby-Voss, says traffic operator Morten Hansen in the NPRA.

Charged stretch
There are long queues in both directions on E16. This is from the west side of Langhelle tunnel.
The main road between east and west is a charged stretch. Over the past 15 years there have been over 260 landslides on E16 between Bergen and Voss. Around 40 times this has meant that all traffic has been stopped.
