Dutchmen in security after search party – Sunnmørsposten

– All dropped to Grotli clock 18.15. Now they take a snack and a chat with the police so that we can ascertain what happened, says Hallgrimur Ous in Inland police.

The 13 Dutch had taken into a cabin by Vulustrupen and was in good condition when they were found. The Dutch were transported by snowmobile down to where Defence tracked vehicles stood. It was not possible to drive the vehicles until the discovery site.

Procession triggered several emergency messages Friday morning. They were found by Vulustrupen in 15.30 o’clock by crews from the Red Cross.

– We sought shelter in the hut yesterday because of the weather. As the conditions were not good today either, so we sent distress message. We are very happy to be here now, said one of the Dutch tourists to TV2 after the arrival of Grotli.



Difficult search party

Bad weather and high avalanche danger created difficulties for rescue crews were sent out to look for your party.

Ten people on snowmobiles from the Red Cross, six dogs from Norwegian Rescue dogs, two avalanche experts and police participated in the operation. Police requisitioned also snowmobiles and tracked vehicles from the Home Guard school in Dombås.

Seven snowmobile patrols were moving into the area Friday morning, but had to turn back and take the sledges due to difficult snow conditions. An hour after was the patrols again heading inland to Green Lake, where emergency messages was sent. The messages from nødpeilerne came via an American emergency call center in 8 o’clock Friday morning.

JRCC Southern Norway tried to help with rescue helicopter from Ørlandet and Floro, but had to turn back because of the weather. Also air ambulance had to give up.



avalanche danger

Operations Atle B. von Obstfelder in Inland Police says that it dropped 30 centimeters of snow in the area Thursday night, and avalanche danger is at level 3 – significantly – in the area.

the group has gone on snowshoes between DNT cabins in the mountains since Sunday 21 February, and they were scheduled to end the trip Saturday. They are aged 20 to 45 years.

Green Lake is located in a mountainous area north of Grotli, close to the county border of Møre og Romsdal.
