Four activists must pay 255,000 in fines after taking into mink farm – Dagbladet.no

Four animal welfare activists risk having to pay compensation of 255,000 crowns for having taken in on a mink farm.

For the week have the four, belonging to the Network for Animal Freedom, meeting in jæren district court, accused of having taken illegally entered the fur farm, newspaper Nationen.

Prosecutors believe the amount of a little over a quarter of a million is a fair compensation to pay for fur farmer in Figgjo in Sandnes, NRK reported. Police Attorney Mina Kristin White said the amount reflects the cost of infection control after the operation. The activists were stopped by neighbors and then arrested by the police.

Rune Ellefsen Network for Animal Rights said Nationen that the industry adopt new methods in an attempt to stop the activists, but that this is not to stop them.

– But we may have to become more creative in how we do things to come, says Ellefsen, He claims the organization has taken in at around 200 fur farms in recent years.
