The boat capsized – recreational fishermen clinging to the keel in 13 hours – Aftenposten

The men are taken to hospital, reports Redningsselskapet Twitter clock 22.49.

Recreational fishermen were reported missing when they did not come ashore on time on 17 May, says Børge Galta rescue leader at the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) at Sola. It was then initiated a rescue operation, writes Adresseavisen.no.

The clock 21.40 in Sunday night announced Redningsselskapet that lifeboat Erik Bye went out to look for fishing tourists west for Averøya, located south of Kristiansund. Also a kystvaktbåt and a Sea King helicopter from Ørlandet was summoned to assist in the search.

– Their boat had capsized, but they had managed to climb up on it afterwards. They were looking for a smaller, open boats, says Galta.

Beckoning to lifeboat

Chief Engineer Remi Storebø by lifeboat Erik Bye says that the three Germans were ambulatory, but cold when they were found.

– They were very chilled and had difficulty moving. They were also tired and hungry after sitting on the keel side clock 9:15 when they capsized. They got blankets and we got warmed them up with equipment that we have on board. A doctor from the Sea King helicopter also took an extra check of them. They are now brought to the hospital, says Storebø.

The men were found two nautical mil northwest of Horse blade.

– We saw them from afar. One of the men waved and we drove closer. They sat on the keel and there was little of the boat that appeared on the surface. The boat was 19 to 20 feet long, says Storebø.



Had lifejackets

All the Germans had lifejackets and were additionally well dressed with warm overalls and woolen clothes, which probably contributed to this ended well, think Storebø.

The three Germans were brought ashore at the pier in Kristiansund in 23 times.
