Siv does not rule out accepting more Syria refugees – VG

GARDERMOEN (VG) FRP manager says there is no question of accepting 10,000 refugees from Syria, but will not put their foot down now that Norway can accept a greater numbers than today.

When Siv Jensen spoke to its national congress Saturday she acknowledged that Labour’s demand to accept 10,000 refugees from Syria are unacceptable for FRP.

But she is far from clear glass on the FRP will agree to increase the number of under 10,000 refugees.

– The fact is that Norway welcomes and has increased the number of quota refugees. It’s not that we are at zero.

– Are you open to accepting more than today?

– We have agreed to accept more because we believe it is reasonable. Sadly, there is more Syrians in Norwegian reception today who are not residents, so Norway is already doing much to help Syrian refugees at home and abroad. So this discussion come up as a result of the Labour Party at its national congress proposed to accept 10,000 new refugees. That is the question we have taken a position today and said no to.

If only the Labour

– Do you mean that there are only two possibilities here; whether to accept 10,000 refugees or current status?

– I have now explained what’s Progress Party in response to Labour’s proposals.

– It has come Signals from Labor that they are open to compromise on a lower number …

– It is not the signal I signed from Minister on May 1, to put it a little cautious . They send little different signals depending on what day it is.

– The question is whether you are willing to accept more refugees than today?

– It is not in progress negotiations on this for the moment.

Not negotiating

– But what is your Starting Point?

– My starting point is what Progress Think about this. Our starting point is the Labour Party’s proposal to accept 10,000 new quota refugees. It says we refuse. What we have agreed is to increase reception of the number of quota refugees, we will increase our support to the neighboring areas, we contribute through the EEA Grants, we have contributed a boat to Triton and we have the strength contribution to Iraq. As Norway does a lot already, and we are doing more than any other country it is possible to compare ourselves. The debate must be put into context.

– But you say no to take any more?

– The ongoing negotiations are not about this.
