Police have sealed off the sinkhole in Drammen – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): The police have cordoned off an area in Drammen, after it was discovered a 25 square meters large sinkhole in the ground.

– We did notice the hole at 22.23, it is just outside the entrance the College of Buskerud and Vestfold, and is approximately five times five meters wide, says operations manager Trond Egil Groth in Southern Buskerud Police District told Dagbladet.

The police have cordoned off the area so no one comes close. In addition, they have gone through college built to check that there are no people there, says Groth.

– Now we are on site and conducting research on the hole remains stable or grows, says he said.

The police still do not know why it suddenly became a hole in the ground.

– It’s water coming up the subway and the area is just off Drammenselva but what it caused, we do not know yet, says Groth.

– The hole was formed very quickly. This is an area where spending a lot of people, he said.

Incident has not yet received any feedback on whether it is believed that the hole will expand or not.

– So we are very excited about, says Groth.
