Critical Thinking

  • Critical thinking means using rationality in an independent, investigative manner .
  • To relate critically involves asking questions like:
  • Interacts it really so we think it does?
  • Must we adjust our perceptions at this point?
  • In philosophy, the term “critical thinking” dog-eared and positively charged.

Today adds Jette Christensen proposed a new Labor policy on knowledge field.

Parliamentary politician has in fact led the party knowledge selection, which was appointed by Jonas Gahr Støre right after he was clapped as the new party leader.

They suggest that critical thinking should as a new basic skill in school.

From religion to advertising

Primary is currently built around five basic skills all students needs: Reading, writing, arithmetic, formulate oral and master digital tools. But Labor Committee would thus need a new skill.

– It is now imperative that the capacity for critical thinking is something all teaching is channeled towards said Christensen Dagsavisen.

– Do gearing

The basic skills are part of the knowledge promise that was passed by Parliament in 2004; before Facebook, Arabic spring, the euro crisis and caricature controversy.

Christensen believes the amount of information sources and channels, combined with an increasingly complex, globalized world means that students need to learn critical thinking before school.

– It is very important that this now becomes a part of the basic skills we have, because the school will be there to equip each individual to cope with their life best. Then this must be one of the most important skills we want to give to each one, says Christensen.

– How should we relate to advertising? How should we relate to religion? How should we relate to politics?

– The school is ready

– How should this be implemented in school?

– I’m not an educator. But teachers in an excellent manner taken into the other five skills. I have full confidence that they fail to take into one final. This is a journey school is ready for.

– Are students in elementary school cognitively ready for it?

– The world outside this requires so much earlier. If one begins with this in middle school, it is too late. When are already facing choices that will affect the rest of your life. In middle school must choose subjects, some must also choose school. Already in elementary school students are exposed to information that must manage as a whole person, says Christensen.

Right skeptical

The last school need is a vague criterion found on Youngsroget believes Right.

– Norwegian School biggest challenges is that many students do not realize the basic skills early enough in the school years. It is hard to think critically about one can not read and write properly. Therefore, we must not dilute the basic skill requirements we have today, says Conservative Henrik Asheim.

– Should be a separate subject in school

Aps innovation is a good news, says lecturer Erik Tunstad.

– There is a desperate need to get critical thinking into school, says Tunstad, who educates teachers.

He is also relevant with book on critical thinking.

But Tunstad believe Labor should go further than to introduce this as a basic skill.

– This should as a separate subject in schools, he said.

media researcher Espen Ytreberg at the University of Oslo also think the suggestion of Labor is sympathetic.

– The need for critical thinking increases when there are more players out in several channels to influence from their interests. Here we have seen a marked increase in recent decades, says Ytreberg.
