Plan Manager Olaf Thommessen (47) told VG that he chose to resign because he felt the resistance was too great.
Olaf Thommessen is no longer General Plan Norway. It confirms Chairman Jan Erik Korssjøen VG Monday night.
– I went to work as Secretary General Plan with clear ambitions in the sack. In accordance with the Board I set the work of turning the organization into a clearer direction towards assistance and humanitarian aid for children, says Thommessen VG, and continues:
– I just realize that resistance to this change was bigger than I had imagined. I must of course take the consequences of. I therefore chose to draw me.
Thommessen would not comment further on the case Monday night.
The Board confirms dismissal
– What I can say is that it’s Olaf Thommessen itself which has denounced the job day. The reason is disagreement about strategy Plan ahead, confirms chairman of Plan Norway, Jan Erik Korssjøen to VG, and continues:
– Upon resignation as Secretary General Plan it with immediate effect. We will come back to who takes over when it’s ready. I do not want to comment on this any more.
The dismissal came during a board meeting in Plan Norway Monday. Among those sitting in aid organization’s Board is a journalist and presenter Hilde Hummelvoll, leader of the Christian Democratic Party Knut Arild Hareide and former Minister Bjarne Håkon Hanssen.

Olaf Thommessen (47) was appointed as the new General Plan Norway by Helen Bjørnøy autumn 2013. It was Jan Erik Korssjøen even as employees Thommessen.
Korssjøen stated at the time that he believed Thommessen was very correct for the job.
– Olaf Thommessen has a real and strong commitment to the values Plan stands for and the work plan allows for children and their rights. We think he will be good at communicating this value vision both internally and externally, and that he will be visible and active in the public debate, Korssjøen.
Thommessen has previously worked with advisory activities in business, including through the global consultancy Steria. He also has a background as economist and politician.
– The job as Secretary General of Plan Norway summarizes who I am and everything I have done, in politics, work and volunteer work, said Thommessen after inauguration.
Was active left politician
In the years 2002-2011 was Thommessen active Liberal Party politician. Previously he has also run his own consulting company in CSR Etheco.
He was married to supermodel Vendela Kirsebom (46) until in 2007 they parted after 11 years of marriage.
19 September 2005 Thommessen a severe brain hemorrhage and fell into a coma. He was out on a jog at Holmenkollen when he suddenly collapsed. After this he was sick for over a year.
– I stood in a complex situation. It was the divorce from Vendela, a political dirty laundry washing in Left and my company was closed down while I was in a coma, Thommessen has said in an interview with VG weekend.
