Bergens Tidende and Aftenposten Thursday to announce that the Afghan authorities last November protesting against Norway sent many families return to Afghanistan by force.
Justice Minister Anders Anundsen have explained to Parliament that the high number, was because “it opened return opportunities.” He has not informed Parliament that Afghan authorities had objected to tvangsreturene, and that the return agreement with Afghanistan may be at risk as a result.
Background: Afghanistan threatens to close borders for forced returns
Anundsen shall meet in control hearing in Parliament on February 6, basically on the Government instructing the long remaining asylum children should no longer be first in line for deportation. Also Bergens Tidende disclosure of certain returns of criminal asylum seekers may have been routed away to reach Government targets about 1900 asylum rebounds, is part of the hearing.
– Sensational
– This whole thing now showing in sum that Anundsen has largely weakened confidence. Now it’s up to him to restore this confidence in the hearing, says Abid Q. Raja, who sits on the Audit Committee.
Raja did not find it surprising that no Parliament knows the letter, because it is a part communication between two countries.
– It is important for us is to know about Anundsen aware of its contents and whether he has given information to Parliament pointing in a different direction than the contents of the letter suggests .
– What if he has known the contents?
– I will not speculate on that. Now we must first know whether he knew the contents of the letter.
Curious
Anundsen has previously only said to Parliament that the high number returns to Afghanistan last year was because “it opened his return opportunities. ” Not that Afghan authorities proteserte strongly against this.
Raja says he is very curious about what is ANUNDSEN statement about “that opened up possibilities.” Both this, asylum agreement with the Christian Democrats and the Liberals, and ANUNDSEN promise of a clear change in policy when it comes to asylum children are topic when the minister meets for hearing Friday about one week.
KrF: Severe
The government should have warned about the letter where Afghan authorities should threaten to denounce return agreement with Norway, says Christian Democrat Geir Bekkevold.
Bekkevold, the first deputy chairman of Family and Cultural Committee in the Parliament stresses that he have not read the letter itself and therefore must take certain precautions. He expects, however, that this is something Control Committee will look at when Justice Minister Anders Anundsen (FRP) meetings for consultation in the next month.
– I must say it’s pretty serious. If it is so that you have returned people and forcibly so many that the Afghan authorities might resign return agreement, one has really clumsy it says Bekkevold
– Surprised
Christian Democrat member of the Audit Committee , Hans Fredrik Grøvan, reacted strongly to the Anundsen not have submitted the letter from the Afghan authorities who warn that continued forced returns of families will have serious consequences for returning cooperation with Norway.
– I am very surprised that as the media finds out this and that the minister does not even put forth the information and document the committee. Especially when the Committee has requested that all relevant information pertaining to this matter last six months shall be submitted.
Do not put the letter
State Secretary Joran Kallemyr (FRP) in the Ministry of Justice says he needs more time to put into the case and neither has seen the letter, which was first discussed by Bergens Tidende.
– What we have known and has informed Parliament, is that there have been difficulties in connection with the return of foreign nationals to Afghanistan. It was also the reason that long not deportation lately people to Afghanistan, and certainly not families. But then opened up an opportunity for the autumn of 2014. It has been open about all the time. The information has been the forefront long, says Secretary of State.
