A young Norwegian man is found dead in an avalanche in Fardalen, about seven kilometers south of Longyearbyen, Svalbard. The search is now completed.
A snowmobile is also found in snowpack. It reports the Governor on his website.
– Governor has reason to believe that landslide struck on Saturday morning. 18 people from the Red Cross and two from the Governor is now investigating the area, writes Governor.
According to a communications Tone Hertzberg with the Governor, was the search concluded at 17.30 Saturday.
– There is a young Norwegian man from Longyearbyen found dead. Efforts to notify the next of kin have been implemented, says Hertzberg VG.
No indications that more is taken
