KONGSVINGER PRISON (Aftenposten.no) Mullah Krekar was released from prison Kongsvinger just after 08.30 Sunday. He has atoned finished a sentence of two years and ten months.

Six cars with family and friends had met up at the prison to follow him ten nmi home to Oslo.

Also a police were present to keep track of the horde of journalists.

Once out of the gate fell Krekar to earth and kissed the snowy ground.

Mullah Krekar asked for understanding that he would prioritize time with family, but promised to take a new chat with the press later.

– I will not talk now, but first I want to thank all officers and staff here at Kongsvinger and Oslo prison. Everyone I’ve met in health, library and school. All are good people, but in a bad system. Here in prison – it is like North Korea. All rules the last two years is a violation of human rights (human rights), said Krekar.

Krekar hope politicians will now stop it, can call a game because it will be a shame, not for him but for them.

– Some of them are shameless, said Krekar.

It was Krekars brother who drove the car.

– Morna, Jens, joked brother when the two went towards the car.

Mullah Krekar had also made a blanket that he wants to give a gift to compartment A of Kongsvinger prison:

– In two years I have been with them . Therefore I have made this gift, said Krekar, hear he got into a car and disappeared in the direction Oslo.



Waited all weekend

For nearly three days have photographers and journalists waited the parking lot outside the country’s only prison only for foreign prisoners, hoping to get a glimpse of Mullah Krekar as he dropped out of the gate.

Prison Director Gaute Enger at Kongsvinger prison have all weekend refused to answer any questions about whether 58-year-old already has left the former Luftforsvaresleiren high on Vardaasen or when the release will take place:

– Here releases we inmates who have completed atonement seven days a week, but we never go out in the press and tell who should when said Enger before release.

Neither he had learned when his client skullle released and had not planned to travel up to Kongsvinger prison to meet him on Sunday.

Special Prison

Kongsvinger prison has a total of 117 seats, and here is it not one dime in Norwegian education or rehabilitation to the Norwegian society. But it taught English, computer and various håndtverksfag which inmates can benefit when they return to their home country.

Romanians, Poles, Lithuanians and Somalis are the largest groups among about 50 nationalities who have atoned here since the prison was turned into the country’s only prison just for foreign inmates in 2013.

Last year atoned 1350 foreign nationals in Norwegian prisons, more than 100 of these served at Kongsvinger.
