The Norwegian budget airline announced yesterday about doubled result, more passengers and fuller planes. The coating was in the second quarter of this year at 88 percent, an improvement of 8 percentage points over the past two years, according to the quarterly report.

A total of 7.7 million passengers flew with Norwegian in the second quarter – an increase of 11 percent .

Increased revenue

– the development is uniformly good in all Norwegian’s markets, the company said in a statement.

Norwegian turnover of 6.6 billion in the second quarter, 800 million more than in the same period last year. The costs – primarily salaries and fuel – has increased slightly. It is partly with the company’s growth over the last twelve months. Other operating expenses were reduced by nearly 300 million.

Kjos satisfied

Thus, the company is left with a profit of 1 billion – almost twice as much as in the second quarter last year, when operating profit was 520 million.

Kjos is not unexpected very happy, but points out that the company had significant extraordinary costs for leasing of aircraft and compensation to passengers.

– When this summer is over, they hired planes being phased out, and we look positively on future developments, he said.

With our new aircraft type

yesterday it became known that the Norwegian subsidiary Arctic Aviation Assets ( AAA) has signed an agreement for the delivery of 30 aircraft of the new aircraft type A321 Long Range from Airbus. The first eight aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the airplane coming to market in 2019 and the rest the following two years.

This is a reversal of part of the order that Norwegian made of 100 A320neo in 2012. The new aircraft can fly longer than A320neo, can accommodate about 220 passengers and is the most long-range aircraft with one aisle. (NTB)

– You may be entitled to standard compensation and redress when the flight is canceled when it is within the airline’s control. The size of the standard compensation ranges from 250 euros to 600 euros, depending on how far you were going to fly, says director of consumer service Ingeborg Flønes Consumer Council said in a statement.

There are rules that apply to all passengers traveling by companies flying within the EU / EEA area.

the Consumer Council has requested a meeting with Norwegian as a result of the company on the first weekend in July had to cancel several flights. The reason was that an overtime agreement between the airlines and the pilots expired.

– We want to better understand what kind of information Norwegian has given to passengers by flight cancellations. According to EU regulation there is an information requirement for the airline when such events occur, says Flønes. (NTB)
