New veiselskap laws cheaper roads – Hamar Dagblad

The new government veiselskapet has taken over responsibility for the construction of roads totaling 148 billion and believe costs can be reduced by 22 billion, the newspaper said.

This will be achieved by cutting out lighting over long distances, reducing the requirements for visibility, reduce road width and thickness of the asphalt, making easier frost and choose cheaper drainage solutions.

– in some areas we are building with high standard in Norway, we believe. It must enter a greater focus on costs, said Chief of the company, Ingrid Dahl Hovland.

She believes that these measures will not jeopardize safety, showing among other things that there is no research that says streetlighting higher road outside urban areas and outside intersection areas.

completely wrong

Transport Minister Ketil Solvik-Olsen (FRP) told NTB that it is completely wrong to talk about lowering the road standard.

– That standard is lower is simply wrong. It’s more about setting priorities, he said.

Among other things, Norway look to Sweden for the Swedes manage to build highways at half the price of what is being done in this country.

– Sweden has consistently improved road standards. Therefore, we will learn how we can get more bang for your buck by building just as good and cheap, says Transport Minister.

New Roads CEO Ingrid Dahl Hovland guarantee that the roads will be built faster, more efficiently and cheaper than the Government Road Administration, but that it should not go beyond traffic safety.

– in Sweden one gjerrigere the default choice, especially on stretches of lesser traffic. Quality assurance in the implementation very important, she says to Aftenposten.

– There is no benefit from

Director of NPRA, Terje Moe Gustavsen, has the following comment on the plans.

– It can be expensive to build cheap if the costs of operation and maintenance becomes large. And concern for road safety is central to all planning and construction of roads. However, it is important to always see opportunities for change, appropriate simplifications, and adopt new methods, he said.

Solvik-Olsen calms that cheaper roads does not automatically mean more maintenance.

– to save on the way no one wants that. New routes shall be responsible for road projects they have been for 20 years, and it is that they must take all maintenance costs. That more maintenance because the roads are cheaper, are not the way they work, he said.
