devel (Dagbladet): It is five years since the terrorist attacks on Utøya that took 69 lives. The time 16.00 in the afternoon was held memorial service on the island. Among those who will speak are AUF leader Mani Hussaini and Labor leader Jonas Gahr Støre.
Jens Stoltenberg was one of the first to arrive the country side of Utøya, where Utøya own boat, “MS Thorbjørn” chased survivors , relatives, party members and guests to the island.
– First and foremost this is a day where it is important to be united in grief. For many, July 22, just one day a year, but for some, July 22 with them every day, Stoltenberg says to Dagbladet.
Special Date
Since then Stoltenberg become NATO leader. He thinks it’s scary to monitor constantly several major terrorist attacks in Europe.
– For us in Norway on July 22 is a special date. Since July 22, we have seen increasing numbers of similar events and we’ve got more dates, Brussels, Nice, Ankara and Paris.
As NATO leader, he follows all of this closely.
– NATO supports games against Isil and is partly to train local groups to fight against terrorism, but military force is only a small part of the fight. The very main is to work with people’s attitudes and values.
Hope
Utøya has become the symbol of hope, says Støre.
– on a day like to know one of the great grief, but for me Utøya a symbol of the hope that is important to take with them, says the Labor leader Jonas Gahr Støre.
He said the hope is in the new members, old members, the new buildings on the island, new policies and new commitment.
– The Utøya and AUF have shown us is that we have managed to build up again and shown the perpetrator that did not seem to crack. Utøya could easily have been left dark and abandoned in the middle of the bay. seeing AUF involvement in subsequent years in order to take back the island has been absolutely fantastic.
have made island back
Mani Hussaini, AUF leader, said on July 22 will be used to send ring around those who have the very toughest.
– for some five years long time. for others, this is something that happened yesterday.
– AUF has been through a long struggle the last five years and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us through this. the support from the Labour Party, all volunteer hours people have put down to rebuild Utøya, everyone who has joined the AUF and fought for our policy. There is no blueprint on how to raise their game after such an attack, but we have managed to all island our return, he said.
AUF leader stressed that they look forward to making future summer camps to be held at Utøya.
– in the future, should the island used by many committed youth, we should meet new friends, fall in love and create tomorrow’s policies. We are proud of the work we have done and are perhaps stronger than ever.
