– Has 22 July was a day you dreading?

Jens Stoltenberg is asked in a radio studio in NRK. He was prime minister and party leader of the Labour Party during the attacks on the government quarter and AUF summer camp on Utøya five years ago.

– It’s a day that evokes very painful memories, but to come to Norway to mark this day I think is a little good. The meeting people who experienced 22 July, being able to give each other comfort, it is a good thing. That is why this type of selection is very important for very many, says Stoltenberg told NRK.

The attacks cost 77 people their lives, and Norway was never the same again.

career wise, Stoltenberg gone further and been secretary general of NATO. Now he moves on the international political scene, but that fateful day in summer 2011 is a day he did not come across.

– Must show that the vast community has not forgotten

He says it’s important for especially those affected to mark the terrorist attack .

– it is important to show that the vast community has not forgotten what happened on 22 July. Those who were affected, those who lost their loved ones and those who are still injured live with this every day. The I hit and what I experience is that these appreciate that the vast community see this at least once a year.

– It will be an important speech for me

today he will make a speech in Oslo Cathedral. Same place as he gave a speech two days after the attack five years ago.

– It was for me an expression of the feeling we had in Norway, we stood together. That even though it was very painful, so did it also appears very much well in the Norwegian people. Therefore, today’s speech important to me, says Stoltenberg.

Five years later, what has made on July 22 with Norway?

– 22 July will be a part of our history and who we are, and it will be amongst what we are identified through other countries. But fundamentally I believe we are the same community as we have been. A more open and more trusting society than most others. I think this is our victory over the 22 July.

Stoltenberg says he believes Norway has proved itself over wanted to support the Norwegian values.
