Tourist Bus has run off the road in Valldal – VG

OSLO / Gudbrandsjuvet (AP) A are confirmed dead and several are injured in a traffic accident at Gudbrandsjuvet in western Norway.

A tourist bus has run by road by Valldal. A person is so far confirmed dead and several are injured, police said.

– A person has been reported killed, and part is bruised. There are at least five people, possibly more, which is sent to the hospital, said Arild Reite, Operations in More og Romsdal Police VG.

More transported to hospital

Ten victim is transported to Aalesund hospital, and four to Molde hospital. We know that eight of those transported to Aalesund hospital is slightly injured and two of those transported to Molde hospital is slightly injured, said AMK og Romsdal in a press release at half past seven o’clock.

– We are talking about different amount of damage on those who are sent by helicopter to Aalesund and Molde. It is too early to say anything about the severity, says communications director Trine Kvalheim in Møre og Romsdal Hospital Trust VG.

Located on the roof

Around 40 people are involved, according to police.

Witness: – Passengers in shock

Christoper Schonefeld is from Valldal and arrived at the scene just minutes after the accident. He tells of passengers in shock state.

– It came shocked passengers out of the bus in complete shock. In addition, there was more damaged outside the bus. Three people were stuck.

Schonefeld says that the bus had toppled down the slope after running over on the other side of the road. The roof lay down in the ditch.

According to Schonefeld he and several others started rescue work immediately after the accident before the ambulance arrived at the scene shortly after.

– All the injured have been transported unleashed. The rest of the bus is sent to a reception center in Valldal, he said.

He says that although the road is narrow is the stretch where the accident occurred clearly.

All are out of the bus

Several were stuck in the bus after it overturned, but is now retrieved.

– All is now taken out of the bus, said Frank Austdal in the 110 exchange to VG.

– fire brigade from Valldal is advancing at Gudbrandsjuvet. We are now working to secure the area. The fire brigade from Andalsnes and heavy rescue preparedness from Aalesund are also on the way, says Tor Ivar Sjåstad, operator at the 110 call center in More og Romsdal.

Valldal runs from Storfjorden and ends at Trollstigen in Møre og Romsdal. The stretch is a very popular tourist and summer is the peak season for tourism at Trollstigen.

The road is closed

Norwegian County Road 63 at Grønning in Valldalen, More og Romsdal, is closed due to accident , said NPRA.

– Accident Group is on the way, and the same are the ones to direct traffic. * We know not yet how long the road will be closed, if it is prolonged, we’ll be divorced detour, says Lisbeth Smørholm, acting director for the NPRA og Romsdal.

She encourage those who plan to drive the stretch to run other routes, as there are going to be queuing for a period.
