It was during an inspection Wednesday that fire boat “Rescue” saw two kayakers lying to waving in the water. When they came right up to the women, they discovered that one kayak was shattered.
– Quickly we got ripped kayaks and terrified women aboard the fire boat, printer port fire station in a facebook post.
– It was a brutal sight, kayak was split in two, says skipper on “rescue”, Gorm Laursen told NRK.
the women told rescuers they had been hit by a boat at high speed. According women had the boat had not made any attempt either to steer away or stop. The two canoeists were picked up by Bleikøyflaket the Oslo Fjord.
– They have had pig luck, for it was only half a meter front and back before this could have gone really bad, says Laursen.
Fortunately, the woman unharmed from the incident. Laursen tells the that women seemed shocked and affected by what had happened, but they explained the incident clearly.
The skipper says that there was strong sun that day, so it is possible that the boat has not seen the two kayaks.
He still encourages all boats to take account of kayaks and urges paddlers to make efforts so that others can see the best.
