The attempted coup in Turkey to be turned back. It has been a chaotic night in the country and there is an increasing number of the killed, injured and arrested.
– At least 192 people have died, said the acting defense chief Umit Dundar according to AP news agency earlier today; 41 policemen, two combat soldiers, 47 civilians and 104 people he describes as “coup organizers.”
Dundar said that it is mainly offisererer from the air force, military police and armored forces that were involved in the attempted coup.
The death toll was revised up when Prime Minister Benali Yildirim gave a speech in Ankara on Saturday morning. He said that 161 have been killed, and stressed that this figure did not include “behind the coup,” which makes the total number is at least 265. He could tell that they have arrested 2,839 soldiers in the Turkish army arrested after the attempted coup.
