Powerful head-on collision near Bergen – Bergens Tidende

Ten people, including four children, have been sent to Haukeland hospital after a head-on collision on Rongøy near Bergen. Two children will be seriously injured.

Emergency services who managed with great resources when it 17.30 o’clock Friday reported a sharp frontal collision just north of Rongesundet bridge on county Road 561 in Øygarden outside Bergen.

– All involved, a total of ten people are injured and sent to Haukeland hospital, said operations manager Lars Geitle in Hordaland police clock 18.50. Among them are four children, defined as persons under 18 years.

To BA says Listøl that three more will be seriously injured, while the last five are slightly injured.



– Two children seriously injured

The accident occurred at Ormhilleren on Rongøy, just north of Rongesundet bridge. The bridge was closed an hour after the accident, but should have been opened again around 18.45.

There were two cars that collided. In one set has seven members in the other three.

The circumstances of the accident is not known, but it is clear that one car came across the oncoming lane, said efforts manage Frank Listøl.

– There have been witnesses to the incident, so we have reasonably good overview of what has happened, he said.



Two air ambulances and six ambulances were sent to the site, in addition to firefighters from Øygarden and Ågotnes. Both local police and patrols from Bergen also moved out.

Accident place is frozen pending investigation. The accident investigators to NPRA and The Accident are heading to the area, the BT illuminated.

– The road will be closed for a while, says Listøl.

Detour is via time – and bike path that runs along the county road 561.

– We are trying to get directed traffic past there. It will go some time before we can open the road to normal traffic, it must be carried out investigation at the scene, said operations Geitle.
