Thanking rescue crew on behalf of the family – NRK

Sunday afternoon fell an American two-child father down Hivjufossen in Hol. The man in the 50s are still missing, and there is an ongoing search and rescue.

In a letter to the editor Hallingdølen thank Truls Holth, spokesman and close friend of the American family, police, Red Cross and volunteers their efforts in the search for the American two-child dad who fell Hivjufossen.

On vacation before studies

the man’s wife, and his two sons were eyewitnesses to the tragic accident. On Facebook Evan Hart – Please watch this. | Facebook tells his son Evan Hart what happened. The family was on vacation in Norway with his family and visited tourist attraction when he slipped and fell 820 meters down.

in Facebook video tells his son that the family was in Norway to do some sightseeing few weeks before he starts school here in the fall.

the family had gone up on a hill to get a view of Hivjufossen when the accident happened.

– my father slipped and fell. We saw that he fell, but not where he ended up, he says in the video.

Little Hope

The sons called rescuers who plucked out by helicopter and divers, but relief efforts have so far been difficult. According to the sheriff in Hol, Thorstein Seim, the exploration work can take several days.

Because of bad weather and difficult terrain, the police had to use drone to search for the man. Divers have been unable to start the search until the water flow in the waterfall was smaller.

When Facebook video was posted on July 25, had no son much hope left.

– It’s been 24 hours and they still have not found him. We have spoken to aid workers and have heard that it is impossible for anyone to survive under such conditions.

The family currently resides in Oslo with friends while exploration work is in progress.
