- Now we can begin to rebuild confidence – NRK

The head of the police joint union does not deny that Monika affair has affected all in the police district for many years.

– We are very pleased that it has come a judgment in line with prosecutor assertion, says Kjetil Rekdal.

– What have you learned from this case?

– We learned a lot and made many changes. But there is much to do ahead to take proper lessons from what has happened. This has been an issue that has broken down confidence in the police, especially in Bergen, but also in the rest of the country, says Rekdal.



Alert Group for municipal model

He thinks much needs to be done different for the police not to end up in a similar situation again.

– There remains a lot of work, but we have taken action. We have established a notification group, a measure that is patterned after the model of the City of Bergen. We believe that there can be a supplement to deal with such matters better in the future.

– This judgment is a final confirmation that it was appropriate to resume the case and it was right by Robin Schaefer alert. In that sense, this case has been a long struggle, in which the mother Monika has had the heaviest. But it has also been tough for the others who have been affected by this issue, says Rekdal.

a new impetus in the police district

– This thing has characterized us long, and it takes time to get up again a good mood. But all parties are in favor of rebuilding confidence in the police. We’ve got a new chief of police, and there is another impetus in the police district than it was just one year ago. Now we can start again, says Rekdal.
