Norwegian offers four daily pays to pilots for purchasing the holidays their – Dagbladet.no

Over a thousand passengers were yesterday struck after 18 flights with budget airline Norwegian was canceled at short notice.

The cancellations were due partly to lack of crew, and came after one overtime agreement between the airlines and pilots outlet. The contract covers the purchase and sale of holidays, an agreement that Norwegian many years use.

The agreement means that the company buys holidays as pilots basically have, in exchange for being overtime paid. It has proven to be very profitable for pilots, because over time apply regardless of how little or how much you work during the day off selling.



Have been offered double overtime

to hedge against new cancellations Norwegian has chosen to send out an email with a lucrative offer to its pilots to buy them out of the holidays.

In the email it says

“Good evening all together

Please be aware that management has approved a top offer to provide double overtime to anyone who can help us out of this tough period.

Thanks in advance “

Norwegian confirmed to Dagbladet that they have given the pilots offered double overtime to redeem them from the holidays his.

– It is true that we have offered double overtime to pilots. We have stretched us very far in order to entice them to fly, says Charlotte Holmbergh Jacobsson, press officer of Norwegian.

Jacobsson did not detail how much pilots will be paid with over time, other than that she thinks it is very profitable for pilots who accepts.

Halvor Vatnar is the head of the pilot union as organizes the Scandinavian pilots in Norwegian. He has himself not gotten the message about the extra money.
