Less than half the members of the Church are Christians – Romsdals Budstikke

In the survey Response Analysis conducted for Aftenposten, say 40 percent of the entire population that they regard themselves as Christians.

Helga Haugland Byfuglien, permanent president of the Bishops’ Conference, is not surprised by the result.

– These figures joins a number of other investigations. The proportion who are members of the Norwegian Church, is decreased. The main reason for that is the altered composition of the population. The number of members is fairly stable, but we recognize that we as a church are challenged by new trends of the time, she says.

Among those aged over 60 provide 53 percent of the population that they consider themselves Christians, while only 22 percent under age 30 say the same.
