Hardangervidda is closed to cars – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Highway seven over Hardangervidda is now closed to cars and driving column had to stop because of poor visibility, heavy snow and high winds. It is currently sent out OBS forecast eleven counties in southern Norway and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute warns of strong winds and difficult conditions on the way down from the mountain.

– The weather forecast suggests that it may last until the present day. It is likely, it is not expecting anything better weather to come, says traffic operator Ken Ove Hom in NPRA, Region West Dagbladet.

As of yesterday is also Highway 13 over Vikafjellet closed. County road 27 over Venabygd Mountain will be closed all day. On European route E134 over Haukelifjell may be introduced convoy at short notice.

There were namely strong gales and snow this morning.

Meteorologists warned today against difficult conditions in mountain passes throughout southern Norway, Sor-Trondelag, down west and to the counties. These counties are sent out OBS forecast for:

• Vest-Agder, Aust-Agder, Telemark, Buskerud, Oppland and Hedmark.
• Rogaland and Hordaland.
• Sogn og Fjordane, Møre og Romsdal and Sør-Trøndelag.

– It gets progressively more precipitation during the day and most windy in the afternoon and in the evening. For those who are going down from the mountains at Easter, it’s wise to go early in the day, said duty meteorologist Nina Larsgård in Norwegian Meteorological Institute Dagbladet earlier today.

“Go as early as possible”, was also urging of NPRA . But now the afternoon progressed and several roads are closed.
