Pension on the way out – strike risk is reduced – Dagsavisen

It reduces strike risk significantly, says source told VG.

– How the negotiations have evolved, I do not think it will strike this year, says a central source VG.

The source follows talks between Norwegian Industry and the United Federation closely.

The reason that strikes his father considered much less now than a short time ago, is that the parties are trying to agree on a plan for retirement. The big pension issues should now be lifted over to LO and NHO.

– Letter to LO and NHO

According to VG planning Federation and Norwegian Industry to send a letter in which they will ask LO leader Gerd Kristiansen and NHO chief Kristin Skogen Lund take the initiative and responsibility to find common solutions to the pension challenges. Included are efforts to evaluate the arrangement Contractual pension (AFP) next year.

The parties broke negotiations Tuesday 15 March. The mediation starts just after Easter, and the arbitration deadline expires at midnight on Sunday 3 April.

Significant distance

At a press briefing Wednesday before Easter was national mediator Nils Dalseide clear that he regarded with considerable distance between the parties when the mediation started Wednesday.

– This is a very big mediation with many complicated questions. I expect that there is considerable distance. And I expect that there is a gap in matters of principle, saying his initial analysis a week ago.

The arbitration two years ago went 19 hours on overtime. No one wants a repeat performance.

– We have talked about already, and we are well agreed that is no goal to set a new record, told Dalseide and stressed that this is not about laziness, but that the risk of error increases when people are tired.

Joint meeting

The parties initiated mediation Wednesday with a meeting where both fielded full delegations.

As work continues særmøter where Federation and Norwegian Industry meetings Dalseide separately, and that it is working in smaller variety that goes away on selected topics.

Dalseide stressed that it is a time consuming process.

– The product – if successful – is a text of a collective agreement. There are no words to throw at random out of a sheet, but carefully thought formulations have great legal consequence. Therefore, it is a slow work. It should also be anchored in the delegations, which also is time consuming. (NTB)
