(Dagbladet): Mette Evensen in Drammen had almost given up on finding his dog George alive.

The dog, the breed bassett, never came home from a trip on Friday 11 March. He and the dog Birk had been out running in woodland on Nordbykolleb, but it was only Birk came back that day.

– Birk was back after half an hour, but I suspect that George spotted a deer and then disappeared, she says.

The exploration efforts, which she says has been going on day and night, have not yielded any results. It was promised bounty of 5,000 kroner for dog and written a lot about him in social media, but he was not going to find.

It was before Baard Wilhelmsen went morning with their dog today.

Heard barking

He went for a walk in the forest area when his own dog got perched ears for anything.

– I heard something low barking. It sounded like it was far away, but turned out to be very close. There was a hole in the ground where I heard sounds coming from. I came over the edge, but then nothing, until it fell silent and I heard another yelp. I looked down and a small head poked up between two stones, says Wilhelmsen Dagbladet.

Down in the hole was tiny Georg. He had probably been stuck for over a week but was still alive.

– It was impossible for him to get up, so it was really good to be able to help, he said.

Worn

And the owner is grateful.

– I’m so happy. I’ve never felt this way! I almost went up but now only hovering I to have him back, says owner Evensen.

The dog has only been home half an hour when Dagbladet speaks with Evensen. The eight days alone out in the wilderness, most likely without water and food, have sapped a little dog’s body. Georg traveling check to vet already today.

– He’s been very, very thin and has a wound on his head. He is fortunately a tough kid, says Evensen, who now intend to pay out the reward of 5,000 crowns to the finder.

– It is absolutely amazing and very luck that he managed to survive there for so long, said operations manager Svein Erik Gevelt in South-Eastern Police District told Dagbladet.
