Left and Christian Democrats memories Listhaug on asylum Settlement – Hamar Dagblad

Democratic Party and the Liberal memories immigration minister Sylvi Listhaug (FRP) on asylum settlement and notes that she needs a majority in Parliament to put in place austerity measures.

– I expect she relate to the settlement and the facts, says Liberal leader Trine Skei Grande NTB, while Listhaug putting the final touches on their proposals to Parliament.

– If she suggests something beyond what is in the settlement, she must have a very good reason that there has been no emergency from December to now, she continues and points out that since Christmas was not arrived asylum seekers to Norway. This is the most “acute” change, believes Skei Grande.

Several of austerity proposals Listhaug leave just before the New Year, was met with harsh criticism in the consultation process, but after the NTB experience has the minister not made major changes when she sends its proposals to parliament in early April.

not negotiating

Liberal parliamentary group said abruptly turned to List Haugs 40 proposals, claiming that they violate international law. KrF leader Knut Arild Hareide demanded in turn significant changes.

Christian Democrat immigration spokesperson Geir Toskedal says he now awaiting what the government is going with, but he also expects that the proposal will be within the settlement.

– We have had a few meetings with the Minister and the government are familiar with our positions. But we have not negotiated or participated in the design of this. The government is free to promote whatever they want, but I hope they will think long term, wisely and efficiently, says Toskedal.

international law

Democratic Party agrees that it must austerity to, but Toskedal believes measures must remain within international conventions.

the party has been particularly wary List Haugs proposal to grant only temporary stay for unaccompanied minors until they are 18 years and more stringent requirements for family reunification. A proposal to send more refugees to their homeland, but to other areas than where they come from – so-called internal flight – is not something KrF wants to go on.
