May have revealed Norway’s most extensive overgrepssak – Dagbladet.no

Police in Salangen have seized over 3 million indecent images of children. A man has been charged in the case, said sheriff’s office.

Salangen sheriff’s office says to People magazine that they are now rolling up what could become the most comprehensive case about downloading material showing child abuse.

3324 225 still images and 21,161 videos are categorized as punishable material.

In addition, 1.3 million photographs and several thousand videos categorized as potentially criminal, according to the newspaper.

Police in Salangen, Hans Roar Rasmussen, describing the case as “beyond any comprehension.”

– This is a hugely extensive material, whether in a national scale. I’ve gotten feedback that this matter is one of the biggest issues in Norway, perhaps the greatest, says Rasmussen.

Steffen Ravn Hill, head of the prosecution unit in the former Central Hålogaland police, confirmed to Nordlys that a man who is a resident in the area, is charged with possession of illegal sexual abuse material to children.

The relationship has a maximum sentence of three years in prison. The accused is not in custody, but it is seized of some computer equipment. The computer crime unit in Harstad and NCIS assists in etterforskningen.Politiet not exclude that more people involved in the case.
