Summons CAA to meet for Germanwings-crash – Aftenposten

Several of the politicians in the transport committee in the Parliament, as well as the political leadership of the Ministry, are very reluctant to speak about aviation safety on the basis of the plane crash in the Alps but Undersecretary Bård Hoksrud (FRP) says to VG that the ministry after Easter shall convene the CAA for a meeting.

Parliament Politicians Åse Michaelsen (FRP) is rapporteur in aviation matters. She believes the pilots’ GPs should be involved more actively to weed out unsuitable pilots.

– Consideration should be a scheme whereby pilots GPs get a sharpened notification to the airlines’ medical if they become aware of anything that may affect the pilots’ suitability . Now my impression is that doctors confidentiality prevents this and it does not happen in practice, says Michaelsen said.

Under the Act, Norwegian doctors committed to encouraging a flyer to submit the certificate if the person does not meet the requirements posed. Doctors are also after the Health obliged to notify the aviation authorities if they treat a flyer with a disease that seems to be lengthy.

– It happens sometimes, but there are probably many cases that are not reported . It is well because this duty is not well enough known to health professionals in general, says chief physician Trond Eirik Strand in the CAA.
