Meets LO and NHO requirements – NRK

– We have answered desired by employers to go down to 10 days for employers pocket payments and increasing the number of weeks for unemployment benefits to 30 weeks. We announced several weeks ago a review of this in connection with the revised national, Prime Minister Erna Solberg told NRK.

Thus, taking the state a larger share of the bill for laid off employees so LO and NHO leaders asked last night in connection with the agreement in wage settlements in the private sector.

LO and NHO has stood in front of reversing the rules. Especially because companies could be forced to make layoffs, since it would have been more expensive to have laid off employees.

– Takes parties seriously

The Friday before Easter holidays start writing Erna Solberg a letter back to the parties in the Norwegian working life, where she explains that the government will propose a reversal in layoff rules:

Businesses pay wages reduced now from 20 to 10 days and the maximum unemployment benefit period is increased from 26 to 30 weeks. Rules reversed with effect from 1 July.

Solberg thinks it’s better to be safe than sorry.

– In 2013, we tightened because there were lower lack of manpower in various sectors. But the labor market has changed since then. Now we have higher unemployment, work activity is lower and the need for labor is bigger, says Solberg.

She also says that it has been important to listen to LO and NHO.

– When we get letters from the parties, so we take it seriously. We have carefully thought through this, and believe it is right to go back on the changes, says Solberg.

Deputy LO, Hans-Christian Gabrielsen believes the consequences of not reverse would increase unemployment in the future.

– It is very demanding times in Norwegian industry and layoffs would increasingly result if they did not change the rules, says Gabrielsen.

– We have had a historically moderate wage, and it is good that the government follows up with measures that make it easier for the industry.
