Prosecutions Appeal Court in Tranby case – Dagbladet.no

Prosecutions anchor verdict in the case against the 53 years old woman who was acquitted of killing her husband Per Gunnar Asheim Tranby, newspaper VG reports.

The 53 years old woman from Tranby in Lier was in Drammen District Court acquitted on the most serious point in the indictment, premeditated murder of her husband Per Gunnar Asheim, but was sentenced to three years and six months for abuse of his family, as well as the influence of witnesses.

The woman did not appeal the judgment.

– We believe the court has not made a timely and overall assessment of the evidence in relation to drapsfrifinnelsen. The court pointed out individual elements instead of looking at the overall evidence result – that the minority did, says Attorney Trude Elisabeth Sparre, who was the prosecutor in the case.

Per Gunnar Asheim was found dead in a burned car in a parking lot in Tranby in March 2013.

The prosecutor in the case let down allegation 21 years in prison.

court split into question of guilt. The majority – the two judges and one of the lay judges – meant there is no evidence linking the woman to the arson of the car, while the minority, two lay judges, thought it was proved that she killed her husband.

The woman has been in custody since she was arrested for the murder in March 2013, after the acquittal.

Police said there still is a risk of destruction of evidence or evasion. Since she has dual citizenship, fearing police that she would leave Norway.
