Flytoget ordering new trains from Spain – Aftenbladet.no

– One of the conditions we have set for these trains is that they should be able to reach 250 km / h. If we get the opportunity to increase from the current 210 to 250, however, state and Rail who must decide. And there is probably something in the future, says Airport Express CEO Linda Silseth Aftenposten.

The company has worked with procurement plans in eighteen months before the election fell on the Spanish manufacturer. Airport Express Board approved Wednesday the investment, to be financed partly with own funds and partly through loans. The eight new trains are scheduled to be operational in early 2018, when the expansion of Oslo Airport is finished.

– There is an expected increase in passenger volume over Oslo airport which makes it necessary to renew togflåten says Silseth .

The existing Bombardier trains will still be used when the eight new trains inserted into traffic. The new trains are more spacious than the current trains Flytoget uses, and the timetable should allow for even more departures than today.
