Joachim W. Andersen, a press officer at OSL can confirm above VG that it was no longer viable to keep the airport open.
– Flight safety comes first and it comes so much snow that it is no longer justifiable to take fly here, he said.
He said that all employees still working hard to get the snow away, but unless the weather changes the airport will continue to keep closed.
– We hope of course a change in the snow and if possible we open up for air within two hours, says Andersen.
– What can the passengers to take flight after these two hours expect?
– There will be powerful delays, but we try to update passengers here at Gardermoen as well as we can. I encourage all passengers to follow the information from the airline, they are working hard to find a solution to the travelers, he says.
The reason that no planes can land or take off from the airport is that the crew must constantly shoveling runways for it to be prudent to fly to drive there. Once the crew has finished shoveled snow has descended again.

Jobs feverishly
– Were you caught unawares?
– The snow was notified and our buses were ready, but it presupposes plowed roads, responding Janborg in Routes.
Janborg denies that Ruter wrong tires for the harsh snow conditions.
– Buses season tires. They should be able to run smoothly in the snow, but it presupposes that the roads are properly plowed and snowed.
In Asker, smoke and Hurum all bus drivers have been encouraged to take on chains on the tires, according Janborg. Generations buses in Oslo is not as well suited for chain, and the effect will be less.
– Everything plowing crews out
– We are now working feverishly throughout Oslo and Akershus to get traffic Started again. All areas reported that all available equipment and crews are out there now underway plowing in all areas.
Total 186 units out and hews at the municipal road network. Plowing crews in all areas were taken out between the hours. 03.00 and 04.00 in the night. The problem after noon. 7:00 is that plowing crew queued because many vehicles blocking the roads, according Routes.

Delays in the subway and tram
subway and tram running as usual, but it has experienced some delays. As the tram parts way with cars, says many of them stuck. It has added up snow turnouts which creates problems for t-courses in Oslo.
– Work costing snow away, says Asperud, communications manager at the company.
– All buses are still in Oslo. It is up to each individual bus companies to determine when these will be out on the roads again, he adds.
Here are the major delays
Rail call in extra crews to clear snow in the tracks. More trains are set and delayed from Oslo S due the snow.
– As long as it snows, we can not guarantee that there are fewer delays, says Olav Nordli pressevakt by Rail.
There is still snow in turnouts that creates trouble for the trains. The train got technical trouble in Romeriksporten has been removed and allows for two vacant slots from Oslo S.
The day for home
In Oslo police they have enough to do on the roads today.
– There are many traffic challenges now. It is very much a queue because of traffic accidents and traffic are several places. It is not reported about serious accidents, says operations Sven Martin Ege in Oslo police.
He notes that many were poorly prepared for the snow should fall over a vårstemt Oslo.
– There are many with summer tires and others who are poor shod.
Oslo police encourage people to choose public transport over cars today, but understand that neither is something excellent option for the moment.
– It is best to go. Otherwise home a good solution today, says Ege.
